Transit service in Gatineau started in 1895 and was controlled by the Canadian Pacific Railway. CP Rail operated the service until 1926, where it was sold to Canadian International Paper, a subsidiary of Gatineau Power Company. CIP operated the service until November 30h, 1946.

On December 1st, 1946 the Transport Urbain de Hull was formed and operated the service until the 30th of April 1972 where Transport Urbain de Hull was acquired by the Commission de transport de la communauté regionale de l'Outaouais.

The Commission de transport de la communauté regionale de l'Outaouais operated under this name between the 1st of May 1972 and December 31st, 1990 where the name was changed to the name that is known today. With the name change, also came an extension to the service area into Ottawa.

*Provides express service to the Touraine area of Gatineau.
|}
===Interzone===
*Interzone routes provide express service to the outlying areas of Buckingham and Masson-Angers.
*For a short period of time, both routes (as well as express route 88) would exit Highway 50 from Montée Paiement to take advantage of the bus lanes on Gréber/Fournier. However, due to customer complaints, this is now only done when necessary as it otherwise adds a significant amount of travel time.

The Société de Transport de l'Outaouais provides service to the city of Gatineau as well as the municipalities of Chelsea and Cantley in the MRC des Collines. Connections are made in Downtown Ottawa on Rideau Street.

History

  • 1: The ZAP pass is only available to those 16 and under. It allows riders to ride the network after 6PM, or anytime on weekends and holidays (including March break).
  • 2: Post-Secondary Students
  • Transfers and passes can be used on the OC Transpo system, and vice-versa. OC Transpo tickets are not accepted on the STO network and vice-versa.
  • Transfers are good for two hours from the time the bus leaves the terminal. Routes 33 and 96 are exceptions.
    • On the weeks leading up to Christmas, four hours transfers are offered on Friday evenings, and all day on weekends mainly to give Christmas shoppers an incentive to take the bus.
