Papineau is a station on the green line of the Montreal Metro.

History

Papineau Station takes its name from the nearby Papineau boulevard. Named after notary, surveyor and politician Joseph Papineau, defender of peoples rights and the rights of the french language. Paineau's son; Louis-Joseph Papineau, led the people in the Patriotes Rebellion in 1837.

Papineau station is located in the borough of Ville-Marie on the corner of Cartier and Sainte-Catherine est streets.
