Frontenac is a station on the green line of the Montreal Metro.

History

Although part of the Original Network, This station was opened to the public 2 months after the initial network. This station provided itself as the eastern Terminus of the Green Line until 1976, when the line was extended east to Honoré-Beaugrand. Before the opening of the metro, The area around the current station was used a big terminus for a lot of the downtown routes. Beforehand, it once served as a major Tramway Terminus.

The design of the station is quite simple with brown tiles on the floor and beige ones on the wall. In 1999 a new redesign was done by Bisson and in 2005, another major update was done in order to improve the station look.

Frontenac Station takes its name from the nearby street, named after Louis de Buade, sieur de Frontenac et de Palluau. The godson of King Louis XIII of France, he was governor-general of New France between 1672 and his death in 1698.
